Mr. and Mrs. B. G. Connell, who have been holidaying in Levin, returned to their home inTeilding today. Mr. M. M. dooper, B.Agr.Sc., B.Litt. (Oxon) , Diploma Rural Economy (Oxon), head of the dairy husbandry department of Massey Agricultural College, Palmerston North, has 'been appointed to the Chair of Agriculture recently established bj/1 the University of London, and tenable at Wye College (formerly known . as the SouthEastern Agricultural College) , near Ashford, Kent. The funeral of the late Master Brian Leonard Barkla, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. Barkla, of Manakau, whose death occurred suddenly in Wellington, took place at Manakau yesterday and was widely attended. The gathering included a number of pupils of the Manakau School and Horowhenua College. The' service at the Anglican Church, Manakau, was conduc.ted by Canon H. E. K. Fry, who also officiated at the graveside. The pallbearers at the church were Masters W. Miles, M. Mayman, R. Bennett, R. Cornelius, N. Meredith and R. Jensen, all colxge pupils. At the graveside the casket was borne by Messrs. I. Bertram, R. Robinson, F. H. N. Mayiri&n, L. Jensen, W. Hazlett and J. Roach. The cortege was comprised of upwards of forty cars. Among the wealth of beautiful floral tributes were emblems from Horowhenua College, Kuku-Manakau Dairy Company; Manakau School and Manakau Anglican Church.
