COUNTRY LAID BARE FOR SIXTY MILES Received Wednesday, 9.50 p.m. BRISBANE, Jan 15. Besides eating bare of .grass the country for 60 miles around Goondiwindi the grasshopper plague has invaded the town and caused considerable damage. They have eaten starched clothing hanging on the clothes lines, chewed cardboard from the hack of picture frames and bared lawns. It is the worst grasshopper plague in the history of the district. No grass remains on the properties which were showing green shoots three weeks ago, and graziers will now have to cut scrub or hand-feed their stock.
