The man was demoted after liis boat, the ferry steamer Toroa from Devonport, struek Ihe wliarf head011 at the city side on January 4. The concrete deckiug ou the wharf was ripped aud the bow of the Toroa was seriousiy damaged. Eli'orts are being made to have the man reinstalled in his former position. It is stated that he has not accepted work as a fireinan. Representatives of the Ferry Gompany Employees Union are expected to attend a meeting of tlie Enginedrivers Union tonip'ht.
