DEATH PENALTY DEMANDED
POLISH TEEASON TRIAL Received ^londajr, 7 p.m. LONDyX, Jan. 13. The Times' Warsaw correspondent, says the prosecutor, in demanding; death for tliree of the male accused in tlie trial of Oount Groeholski and others 011 charges which include betraying secrets to a foreign Power, declared: ' ' The traeks of these spi.es lead straight to the doors of a eertain Ambassador who transgressed against tlie elementary. rules of relations between two friendly >States. "It is eertain ly not the intention of the Ctovernment that sent this Ambassador here that he should aceept information from memliers of the Pojish underground as a result of which he walked into the hands of the security police at the underground '3 liaison point. "\Xe have a high esteem for the nation- repr.esented by the Ambassador, and it is with the greatest regret that 1 am obliged to say that that State is involved. Our jieople are busy rebuilding their countrv and we must assunie that the Ambassador slipped into false ways because he does not understand the new Poland — a Poland without counts and big estates. " The Military Court announced that it would sentence on Thursdav . Count Groeholski, who is accused, with tliree others, of high treason in betraying State secrets to the British Ambassador. The Court in Katowice seutenced to death four men who were accused of constitut ing the high comtuand of au outlawed underground organisation, "Win," and with supplying informa"tion to foreign Eiubassies iu Warsaw. Tliree others were sentenced to gaol terins ranging from eight to 15 vears. Evidence was given that 53 reports had been handed to the members of an unnamed foreign Enibassy in Warsaw.
