RAIN INTERFERES IN AUCKLAND IHNlNGS • • AUCKLAND, Jan. 9. The Plunket Bhield cricket , niateh between Canterbury and Auckland is at a most interesting stage 011 the day's play. Canterbury scored 279 for. the loss of eight wickets, and' cou'tinu- ; ing yesterday the. side was all 'out after 25 minutes for 299 and Auckland at stumps had lost six wickjets for 209 runs. Weather conditions although not so hot as those prevailing on the first day were again good until rain stopped ' play at 3.38 p.m. Play was not t'e- . sumed until 4.59 p.m. After' four overs play was further held up and the play- • ers took the field again at 5.32.
