SUBMARINES TO GENERATE POWER
Received Thursdav, 9.50 p.m. LONDON, Jan. 9. Bubmarines are to be used by tho principal British naval dockvards to generate power to save coal. It is planned for a start to employ 20 sub marinos in Portsmouth. Devonport and Bheerness. The majority of thom will be used at Portsmouth. The sevon to be used at Devonport with two in roservo are expected to gpnera'te 1000 kilovratts daily saving' 400 tous of coal weekly. When the whole scheme is in operation submarines at the various dockvards are expected to .generate power equal to the use of 2000 tous qf coal weekly.
