The French Conncil of Miniscers has decided to open 500 shops in the Paris area to sell gcods at controlled prices, thus helping the State to control prices in otlier shops. The new shops will work with the G-overnnient, to which the owners will be bonnd by a special contract. The French Cabinet under its shops plan has decided to ereate thousands of "witness" shops throughout France which will contract with the Government to observe M. Blum's 5 per cent. price-cutting experiment, says the Daily Mail's special correspondent in Paris. Thcre will be a witness shop in each big shopping area. Each shop guarantees to sell at the official prices and give the prices maximum publicity. The Government gives the witness shopkeeper special favours, including free publicity and the opportunity to sell at legal rates any blackmarket stocks seized in his area.
