A letter ffdth ( ( 'leghbrh i c()iuu-i jlors of (the- ^'s^nd; |fpirkcrs ' Cniorf !t'orl 'Dnrifediny SJoSl 'Cr^flv'aBd bluff respectively, states: "The statement in the press asserting that various organisations, including the New Zealand Workers' Union,. support the action of the , national execuiive of the Federation of Labour with regard to ihe watersiders' dispute is certainly very misleading. "The facts are that this course was taken without reference to the. rank and filo members of the ex\ecutive council of .the New Zealand Workers' Union. It was assumed by the national president and the general secretary that tlie members of the executive rouncil would coneur ' in the action taken, but as far as the Otago and Southland branch of the. New Zealand Workers' Union is concerned the matter has not been deliberated upon, and c'onspquently we, as the executive councillors representing this branch, liavc not concnrred in Ihe action laken."
