FIGHTING IN INDO-CHINA
TROOPS IN FRANCE TO BE PREPARED Received Thursday., 12.2 p.m. PARIS, Jan. 8. Despatches received by the Preneh Press Agency state that French paratroops with air force and navy ground troops, in the biggest action fought in north IndoChina, have relieved the French garrison at Namdinh, which has oeen resisting Vietnamese attacks since before Christmas. The communique reports that a Vietnamese troop concentration was seen at Anchau, south of Langsoni'ien road, in northern IndoChina. The Vietnamese are believed to be preparing a new atte? ipt to cut the road to Hanoi, which 'Was re-established last week after /"teavy fighting. The French defence ministry, in view of the situation in Indo-China, has ordered all combat troops stahoned in France to be prepared for serviee in Indo-China. Men called for such service would have to be at least 18-years-old and have undergone six montns' training. Two eompanies of experienced French soldiers left a rnilitary training camp at Tarbes tonight for IndoChina. The British and American Chinese Consuls at Hanoi today crossed che fighting lines on foot into Vietnam outposts, to obtain assurance of safe treatment for 200 French civilian hostages. The Consuls returned safely with a party of 150.
