SOCIAL COMMITT.EE MEETS A meeting of the social committee of the Shannon branch of the R.S.A. was held in the meeting roorn of the- fire station on Monday evening. Mr. J. Ritchie occupied the chair and those present were Messrs R. L. Quinlan, J. H. Sinclair, V. J. Bateman, C. H. Johnson, O. H. Tippler, T. A. Bell, I. Falkner, G. Guerin and E. J. Gunning. Apologies for absence were received fromy Messrs T. S. Downes ."and E. Chester. The secretary (Mr. E. J. Gunning) advised tliat the last of Shannon's servicemen had returned home recently, and there were now two men to whom a welcome home would have to be extended. It was resolved that a welcome home function be arranged to the two men, Messrs E. Allen and J. Mitchell, in the Druids' Hall on Wednesday, January 22. Full arrangements for the function were attended to at the meeting.
