Received Tuesdav, 8.15 p.m. SYDNEY, Jan. 7. The State Meteorologist (IMr. G. W, Mackey) denies that the weather in Sydney is unusual for this time of the year. ' Tlie fact that record gales were reported from Hawaii, terrilic snowstorms from Southern Europe and violent eleetrical storms along the New South Wales coast was a pure eoinci dence. Sydney 's two thunderstorms. within a week resulted from combination of heat, humiditv and advancing cold front.s. The total damage in Sydney and sulmrhs is now estimated at well over the million pounds marlc. The secretary of the Roofing Tile Manufa iturers Couneil (Mr. G. G. Timms) who is virtually in the position of ccntroller of tiles, said today that no new huilding jobs will he handled unt.il the storm damage has been repaired. The secretary of the Glass Merchants" Assoeiation stated that the trade has voluntarilv frozen its stocks and is giving sok priority to storm snfferers.
