LONDON, Jau. 2. Reports oi iiring, explosions, nnd attempts by terrorists to use flamethrowers came with niglitfall from Haifa, Tel Aviv, aud parts of Jerusalem itself and from outJving towns such as Tubariya, which previously was free of trouble. One British oflicer was killed and three otlicr ranks injured when a guncarrier was blown up in Haifa. A , land mine is believed to havo been the ■ cause of the explosion. British troops at Tubariya drove off terrorists who v attempted to use flame-throwers against a military car park. Tlie military autlioritios in Jerusalem warned all patrol cars by radio to watch out- for Jewish flame-throwers. Oue flame-thrower exploded near the Orion Hinenui in Jerusalem, but caused jio damage. The sound of shooting in Jerusalem eontinues tonight, and Tel Aviv reverberated earlv tonight to the sound of iiring as the lbitish drove olf a terrorist attack on the Jiritish headquarters at Citrus Ilouse. In Tel Aviv eivilians dashed for shelter as machineguns and rifles openel up against terrorists wliose attack developed into a street liattle. As sporadie shooting eontinued, the British put a eordon round Tel Aviv.
