WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY
A comedy drama of old-thne Mississippi river steamboat days "Showboat Review," which screens at the Renown Theatre on Wednesday and Thqrsday, presents the famous funny men in separate dramatic roles, although Abbott is still the "straight man" and Costello on the receiving end of the most laughable joke routine that has been seeri for many a day. Helping develop the web of the plot to which the fantastic adventares of. Universal's famous laugh team afe pinned, is a notable cast of players, including Alan Curtis aird Lois Collier as romantic leads, Rita Johnson and Joe Sawjter as "hefevieSj" Henry Travers as the old steamboat captain, and Sam M.cDaniel as the Negro cook. Action of the picture is brisk, culminating in a chase along the showboat deck. in the filming of which Director Jean Yarbrough estimated the two stars, Abbott and Costello and members of the supporting cast, ran more than 11 miles.
