TRANS-TASMAN YACHT RACE

NAPIliE, Dec. 29. With barely a catspaw of wind to ruft'le her sails, the ketch Te Rapuuga, with Captain George Dibbern at tlie helm, sailed t'roin the Iron Pot, Napier, at 10 a.m. taday for Auckland. Watclied by a large crowd, the ketch was towed from the lron Pot by the fishing vessel Marlborough to the open bay, where her distinctive ketch rig was set aud a course laid for the open sea. While her owner, Captain Dibbern, was in wartime internment, Te Rapunga was moored for six years in the lron Pot. The ketch was recently released by the Government and Captain Dibbern aud a band of helpers' havo been hard at work refitting her for tlie forthcoming trans-Tasman race. The refit wrill be completed at Auckland. Miss Eileen Morris, of Napier, is definitely to sail as a meniber of the crew in the race. The crew comprises Mr. Dibbern, Miss Eileen Morris, Mr. Graut Lowe, A. Stroyer and Mr. Peter Hartley. Captain Dibbern, before his departure, expressed his confidence that he would win the race. He said if the present crew were satisfactory he would take them ou to Sydney. He added that it depeuded on the winds whether he hugged the coast or stood out on the sea voyage to Auckland.
