PARAPARAUMU NOTES
(From "Chronicle" Correspondent)' The R.S.A. held a Christmas party in the Coronation Hall, when each child was given a gift and sweets from the tree by Santa Claus. Supper was also served, and judging by the happy faces-all thorodghly enjoyed themselves. On Christmas Eve Santa Claus, riding a pure white pony, arrived at a local store and distributed gifts from a gaily-decorated tree. In spite of the cold showery day the churches were well attended for the Christmas services. Usually as one walks down the path from the Anglican Church one is greeted by a pohutukawa tree with its gay blossoms nestling among its shiny dark green leaves, but this year Christmas failed to awaken the sleeping buds, and they remained tightly closed. Owing to the unseasonable weather, all fruit is much later in ripening this year. The gardens generally are having a -bad time from the high winds, which continually buffet them.
