SYDNEY, Dee. 30. A nursemaid, aged 4(i. who answered a ring 011 a doorbell of a fasliionablc suburban Bellevue Ilill hoine today, was struck down by a tliug who afterwards bound and gagged and tried to strangle lier. The victim is reeeiving medical treatment while detectives and unifornied police are engaged in a hunt for her attacker. She told tlie police that when she opened the door a younp man of medium height, wearing khaki shorts and a brown striped sliirt asked for the owner by name. When she told him the owners were in town lie struck her until she fell semi conscious to the floor. He then gagged her, bound her and tightened a length of sashcord round her ncck. Her sc.reams were heard bv an elderly laundress worlcing 111 the rear of the house. The laundress saw tlie man dis appearing as she came to the rescue.
