DOMINION MONARCH ARRIVES

\\ iliJLLiIfS ulUi\ , JJec. zy. With 932 passengers on -board from Britain, Boutli Aiiica, Australia and other cuunlries, the Dominion Monarch arrived at Wellington on Satuvday. Aniong the passengers were 114 Service personnel, wives, iiancees and children who had come from Britain, as well as a small number of Bervice personnel from Australia. A further IS girls who wero recruited in Britain to serve in the mental hospitals of New Zealand were aniong the passengers. The total novv arrived is 101 of whom three have left the service under a clause in the contract which perinits tlieni to do so on the refund of their fare to the Government. The voyage was marred by an outbreak of dysentery said to have been due to trouble with the ship's water tanks. According to the passengers, it 1 did not attain the seriousness suggested by cable messages which reached New Zealand while the ship was en route. The usual expeditious arrangements - for the dispersal of Service personnel aml their dependants to their liomes, worked smoothly. Because of the absence of waterside labour much of the passengers' luggage remained aboard over the weekend and will be dispatched to their destinations after unloading tomorrow. Only cabin and other aecessible packages were brought ashore in nets by the crew.
