WELLINGTON, This Day. There will be five race meetings in the Dominion on Boxing Day (Thursday), four in the North and one in the South Island, and three trotting fixtures in the South Island, with the opening of the Auckland Trotting Club's summer fixture 011 the following day (Friday). Chief interest will centre in the running of the Auckland Cup, in which a field of 26 are carded, and unless there are scveral deflections the field will be one of the largest to line up in this big two-miler for many years. Hot Pursuit has come into strong favour for the Cup. This Takanini representativc is expected to givc a good account of himself. Signai Officer and Thornbridge will carry strong South Island support. Two Aucklanders expected to run promincntly are Representative and Cracroft, both of whom have undergone special prcpqrations and will carry confidcnt stable support. Representativc is very well at present, and I expect both he and Cracroft up with the leaders ovcr thc last furlong. Languc d'Or put up a good Cup trial when he ran a close second to Merry Robin in the Grand- _ stand Handicap at Awapuni last Saturday. This performance will earn him many friends for the Cup.

A thrilling cncounter is expected belwcen the two-year-olds Pelias and Shirley Fox in the Great Nortliern Foal Stakes. Peter Robinson has come into favour for the Railway Handicap, others with solid support being Flowerburn, Baby Girl and Bonny Pay. The Dunedin Cup has drawn an excellent field and after her success at Kurow last week Aurora Australis is sure to have a strong following for the Cup. Handy fields are carded for the second day of the Manawatu meeting at Awapuni, and given fine weather first day's form might prove reliable to follow. There are a number of [resh horses engaged.
