Mrs ' Huia Cole, who has been on a holiday trip in the north, has returned to Otaki. Mrs. Hor rocks, well-known in this district, spent the weekend with friends here. Miss May, -of Mouiit Victoria, Wellington, is spending a holiclay in Otaki. Miss N. Campbell leaves at an early "date for a fishing holiday at the Sounds. Mr. C. F. Atmore and Dr. Atmore are at present in Auckland on holiday. Mr. and Mrs. Turkington, of Matamata, are the guests of their daughter, Mrs. L. Goodwin, Tasman Beach. Miss D. James has returned to her home at the schoolhouse, Otaki, from Elsthorpe.. where she is on the staff of the school.

Christmas Party A very successful children's party was held in the gailydecorated Te Horo Hall on Thursday night, by. the Te Horo subbranch of the Plunket Society. Games were enjoyed by the 200 children present, ancl Father Christmas had a very busy time at the Christmas- >tree. After supper and ices, the singing of "Auld Lang Syne" brought $jus happy function to a closc. :

Improvement bf Domain An endeavour is being made by the 'Paekakariki .Ratepayers' and Progressive AssoGiation to improve the domain by providing children's plaving areas. and othef facilities'. It is proposed to hold a four-day carnival at Easter to raise funds for this purpose, and as a preliminary a garden par-ty is to be held at 33 The Parade, on Boxing Day. A committee has been formed to carry out these functions, and it is expected that the public will give their whole-hearted support to make their efforts a success.
