SENSATIONAL SEQUEL
DEATH OF "DESERT RAT" 4? Received Sunday, 8.35 p.m. LONDON, Dec. 22. Tlie issue wthin a week of warrants for the arrest of several men and at least one woman for the murder of John McMain Mudie is likely to he the prelude to one of the most sensational murder trials in recent years, says the Sunday Dispatch. Tliirty-five-year-old Mudie, who was a former "Desert Rat, " left a Reigate liotel where he was employed on Novemher 28 and three days later he was found dead with a rope round his neck by the side of a disu&ecl chalkpit. The Surrey police at first thought it was suicide hut are now convinced that the man was either deliberately strangled or smothered in London and taken hy car to where the body was found. Scotland Yard discovered that Mudie visited at fiat in Kensington between tne txme he leit tne hotei and when he was found dead. Also that several persons well known to the London police frequented the flat. The police are now seeking several of these persons.
