Euchre Winners Prize winners in the euchre tournament conducted by the local branch of the Labour Party, and held in Laurvig's Hall on Friday evenhig, were Mrs. A. Tremewan and Mr. A. McLaggan. Servicemen's Leave Allowance The secrecary of' the Shannon branch of the Returned Services' Association (Mr. E. J. Gunning) has received a circular from the N.Z.R.S.A. advising of the retrospective leave allowance available to some returned servicemen. New Zealand servicemen who returned from overseas before April 19, 1944, are now to have their dischai-ge leave and allowance benefits raisea in • line with the improved scaie then introduced. Before that date standard leave was twenty-eighi days on full pay, with three shillings a day subsistence allowance. The policy then became two days leave a month of service overseas, with not more than 91 days and not less than 28 days and 4s 6d a day subsistence allowance. Any local serviceman who is of the opinion that he is entitled to the extra leave is asked to make application to the post offlce for the necessary forms to obtain the payment. The circular concerned is open for inspection at Mr. Gunning's store.
