TRAFFIC SIGNALLING

"DOUBTFUL MOTORIST."

Sir —Could you enlighten me through your columns on the traffic rules in connection with the following: A motorist is travelling along the shopping area of Oxford Street looking for a parking place, and comes to a stationary vehicle. He signals ;{thait -he. inteiids turning right ^before pulling out of the line of traffic, passes the said vehicle and then signals that he :s about to stop as ' he slackens up to pull into a parking place. Is this the correet thing to do? I have been told that only one signal should be alven. Yours etc., •

Levin, Dee. 19. [It is Correet to give the two signals— firstly, the one indicating that you are about to draw out from the line of traffic, followed by that indicating that you are about to slow down or stop. It is emphasised that the giving of a signal does not discharge the responsibility of the motorist making the manoeuvre; he must ensure that it has been seen by the driver of any vehicle who could be affected by the manoeuvre. — Editor.]
