INDUSTRIAL SURVEY
FURTHER STATISTICAL FIGURES ! Figures relating to a further igroup of industries covered in the : recent survey by the National i Employment Service have now been released by the department. The groups concerned fall into four main categories, building and construction, transport and communication, retail stores and finance. Twenty industries comprising 748units have been covered by the survey and the following figures show ; the position, the figures in parenes representing existing vacanxies:— Building and construction, i 1,184 (nil ) males, 29 (nil) females; in this group there are 208 working iproprietors not included in the iabove total. Transport and communication 1,699 (95) males, 238 /4) females; these figures do not ; include 90 working proprietors or |21 part-time empioyees, Retail ; stores, 1491 (11) males, 899 (15) i females; 224 working proprietors and 32 part-time workers are not included in these figures. Finance (including banks, insurance companies, etc.) 19C3 (5) males, 178 (4) [females; a further 23 working proprietors and 11 part-time workers I should be added to these figures.
