The Swedish niotor vessel Taru arrived in Sydney today with her aft suporstrueture blaekened bv smoke and the steel deeking bucklod bv fire which luirned for Cight days during tlie voy froirt Lisbon. When the ship was 45 miles south of Dakar, fire broke out in a quantity of cork on the after dock. The ercw fought fche flames while the vessel head ed for Dakar at full speed, Before she made port flames were shooting 50 feet high and the erew and passengeis fighting the fire and .-jettisoning eargo. saw the lifeboatfi burri like paper. The Tarrt lav in Dakar for a week until the fire burned itself out, destroying the e.rew's quarters.
