ANOTHER SENSATIONAL FINISH WELLINGTON, Dec. 15. I11 the second contest in whicli . tho Nunneley Casket has been at stake this season, Hutt Valley were invoived in another sensational finish. The issue was in donht up to the last match with Hutt eventually winning this'to beat Auckland by 7 rubbers to 5. Auckland started well on Saturday, winning the lirst two singles and bringing the tally of rubbers even. In the two linal singles Hutt representatives, Mrs J. Graham and Mrs J. Eobb beat the Auckland top pair, Misses E. A. Attwood and B. Potter. Then Auckland won the lirst doubles and this left them with a iighting chanee. When the last two doubles started Hutt required to win a set in each to win the trophy, When they had oue set in the final doubles they still required to win oue game of the fmal set to have a lead on games whieh would have deeided the match had Auckland taken that doubles match. Amid tense excitement Hutt won the lirst set of the last doubles between Mesdames Graham and Eobb and Misses Attwood and Pooter 7 — 5, dropped the second 5 — 7, and then went on to win the linal set 6 — 4, after being down 3 — 4, in the linest match of the two days. Eesults were as follow, Hutt names mentioned first: — Singles: Mrs J. Graham beat Miss E. A. Attwood 8 — G, G — 4, Mrs J. Eobb beat Miss B. Potter 7 — 5, G — 8, 6 — 2, Mrs 1. Gyles lost to Mrs E. W. Smith 2 — G, 7 — 8, Mrs H. King lost to Miss L. Adams 7 — 9, 2 — G. Doubles: Mesdames Graham and Eobb beat Misses Attwood aud Pottfer 7 — 5, 5 — 7, G — 4, Mesdames Gyles and King lost to Mrs Smith and Miss Adams 3 — G, 3— G. . AMERICANS NOT COMING. The N.Z.L.T.A. today received cabled advice that no American teunis players would compcte in the Ncw Zealand championships.
