BUS AND ARMOURED TRACTOR COLLIDE

WANGANUI, Dee. 13. Four persons were sent to liospital in Wanganui this morning as u result of l coJlision on tlie highway between llata 'and Mgrton involving a 25-seater raiiway bus and an armoijred tractor squad, the seeond vehicle of an eight veliiele convoy travellin^' from Linton to Waiouru enmp. Tlie injured are: — E. Wilmsliurst (Taihape), driver of the bus; compound fracture of Ihe left eg and spinal injuries. Pte. J. A. Tvnighf (Yeale Road, Xew Plyinouth), stationod at Linton, driver of tho Army vehicle; severe sealp wounds and shoek. 4 Mrs. I). Olliver (Ghristchnrcli ) , inlernai injuries and injuries to t'aeo. Mrs. E. Nicholson (Rata), fracture of tlie tliigh and possible internal injuries with haeniorrhage. The collision happened on an "R" bend. Botli veliieles were thrown ofl' the road. The engine of tlie bus was wrecked and oue side was badlv ripped about. One injured woman had to he released from the bus wreekage with Ihe aid of a roadnian's piek. with this eheap and nastv type of programme.
