IHAKARA' S MONTHLY MEETING The Ihakara Hall was gay with flowers for the Christmas meeting of the Ihakara Women's institute. Mrs. Mark presided. A special welcome was extended to Mesdames Humphrey, Dittmer, Bowker, Senr., Hibell and Collett. . A letter was received from Mrs. Summers, who is in hospital, and thanks for food parcels were expressed in letters from. the link in England. "Sing, Say, or Pay' produced revenue for the treasurer and arnusement for all taking part. Mes'dames Henderson and Maclean were in charge of the bring-and-buy stall, and a rose competition resulted in Mrs. Bowker winning first place and Mrs. Stewart , second. Mrs. Kirkaldie paid a brief visit to explain the girl guide movement, with the object of starting a local branch. The usual competitions were held, the results being as follows:— Jam: Mrs. Henderson 1, Mrs. Trotter 2, Mrs. Doyle 3. Flower: Miss ; Forsyth 1, Mrs. Hall and Mrs. J..H. iRolston 2 (equal) , Mrs. Horne 3. ! Shrub : Mrs. J. H. Rolston 1, Mrs. 'Doyle 2, Mrs. R. J. Rolston 3. Potatoes: Mrs. Trotter 1, Mrs, Hudson 2, Mrs. R. J. Rolston 3. Peas: Mrs. R. J. Rolston 1, Mrs. Trotter -2, Mrs. Hudson 3. Cake: Miss Forsyth. Social competition: Mrs. Maclean. An iced cake for comnetition was donated by Mrs. Ian
