INTER-CLUB TENNIS

TAKARO BEAT OTAKI The annual match between Takaro and Otaki Tennis Clubs was played at Otaki at the weekend before a good atteHSdance of interested onlookerSj and proved one of the most ev'en and enjoyable matches yet played between the two clubs. The visitors were on the courts by 10 a.m., after having partaken of morning tea. Play was intqrrupted at 12.30 and the visitors were taken to the Jubilee Hotel for lunch. The ladies of the club were kept busy during the afternoon seeing that all present were given a good afternoon tea, and oodi teams partcok of tea in the pavilion before the visitors left for home. Mr. F. Elliott (captain) welcomed

the visitors and said how pleased his club was to have a visit from the Takaro Club. They not only brought good players, but also the best of sports. Aithough his team had been beaten, he knew they would endeavour to do just a little better when they visited Palmerston North.* Mr. Elliott extended thanks to all those who had helped with the catering. Their's had been a hard day, hut they had made a great job of it. Mr. M. Rennie replied 011 behalf 3f the Takaro Club, and said first of all he would like to extend warm thanks to the ladies for the wonderful way they had treated his team. It was always a pleasure to visit the Otaki Club, for their hospitality was well known, and he also knew that the game would always be a hard one to win. Such had proved the story on this occaion-, and he was "sure his team would look forward to a visit from the Otaki Club, when they would endeavour to return some of the hospitality which had been extended to them.
