THEFT OF OPIUM
Received Tuesday. 7 p.m. MELBOTTRXE, Dec. 30. A quanfifv of opium estimated to be wortb at least £92,090 in rcvenue from Chiiitse smokr ''s, has been stolen from a warehonse of a firrh of manufacturing eh'-mists. The opium, which weighed 1851b. was imported through the Customs for use in the preparation of medicines. The. police say that it may have been stolen for sale to the Chinese opium market throughout Australia by au underground organisaticm.
