MAYOR'S MATRIMONIAL BUREAU
— ^ AUCKLAND, Dec. 9. Tlie Auckland City Council is fast becoming an international inatrimonial bureau. Embarrassed at his apparently iucreasing fame as an adviser to the lovelorn, the Mayor (Mr. Allum) has had to add a ' ' matrimonial bureau" folder to his mayoral flies. For months Mr. Allum* has been receiving a flow of appliqations from Britain by girls speking New Zealand husbands despite published warnings by the Mayor that the only domestie shbrtage in New Zealand is housing. In a hnsband-seeking letter received this morning Eleanor Uoring, of Cr-aw-ford Mansions, Crawfoi'd Street, London, gives all the details: "Height 5ft. 2in.; weight *7st 61bs; a brunette; a reasonabie eook; homeloving; fond of sport." She says sh'e wears glasses 6 'which arefa di.awba.ck in Lonclon."
