Following represeutations from Tenants' Associations, temporary commun ity kalls capable of seating 200 persons. are to be provided in several State housing blocks in Auckland. The Housing Construction Department has plans for modern community centres in its suburbs but these buildings will not be started while the acute housing shortage exists. In the nieantinie the proposals are to provide material from Army huts for temporary halls. This plan follows one which has been put into effect in Wellington.. There the department provided sites and iiia'fefial1 ftciiflXiAi-yxylilitlUs,ynd YekYdehtk erected the halls. A rental agreeinent was reaclied between the Tenants' Associations and the State Advances Corpofation. Inquiries are being made bv the department for suitable materiafs from Army.
