Greek-Bulgarian Border HEAVY FIGHTiNG WJTH REBELS

Received Monday, 11.5 a.m. LONDON, Dec. 8. The road from Skoplje to the Greek border has been closed to motor traffic after persistent unconfirmed reports of heavy fighting across the frontier, near Gjevgjelija, says Reuter's correspondent at Skoplje. He adds that UNRRA and other sources said that several days ago they saw planes diving and strafing, and heard firing on che Greek side of the frontier. Jt was. ofRcially stated in Athens today that Yugoslavia has protested. .that. Greek planes. had fiown again over Yugoslav territory. • A Greek military spokesman said that the situation on the GreekBulgarian frontier was serious. Rebel bands of about 1000 strong nad been recruited from Svilerigrad and Ortakoi in Bulgaria, and from the Gommunists in Sufli and other Greek towns. Greek troops and gendarmes had begun clearing out the rebels, and had re-occupied some regions. The troops had killed 100 bandits in four villages in the Koziani reaion .of Western Macedonia^
