SHANNON TENNIS CLUB

committee meeting held Members of the committee of the Shannon Tennis Club met at the residence of Mrs. C. Wishart (secretary) recently. Mr. K. Batt presided and other committee memoers present were Messrs. K. Thomson, W. C. Higgie. and K. Batt, Mesdames Higgie and Wishart, and Misses P. Small and N. Moynihan. Mr. Batt gave a summary of a meeting which he attended at Levin to arrange inter-club matches. Mr. Batt pointed out that arrangements had been finalised in that all matches were to be played pn Saturdays at every club, excepting Levin, where matches would be played on Sundays because of the Levin Club's large membership an j Saturday being its club day. However, if weather conditions -were unsuitable for playing ori Saturdays, the games would be played on Sundays. On the motion of Mrs. Higgie, it was decided that the ladies of the club have an afternoon set down for the playing of matches among themselves. It was agreed that each Thursday afternoon be set aside for the ladies. It was suggested that there should be an amendment made regarding the "Alf's Buttons" trophies. It ,was agreed that these trophies be for senior players only, unless there were insufficient senior players to make competition worth while ani then juniors would be invited to compete. On t-he motion of Mr. Higgie, it was agreed that junior subscripnons should be paid by December 20, otherwise they would be classed as unfinancial members and would not be allowed on the courts. A suggestion that a visitors' book be placed in the clubhouse met with the approval of the committee. It was agreed that in the case of the secretary being absent from the courts, any member of the committee would be able to collect sub - ScnptToris and' later hand them to the secretary.
