WELLINGTON, Dec. (i. Satisfaction with the .progress shown at the General Eleetion and appreeia tion of tlie efforts of candidates and officials were expressed at a meeting of the Dominion executive of the biational Party today. The president (Mr. W. J. Him, iv.C.) said although the National Party had not suceeeded in putting the Government out it had gone very elose. The gains in both seats and voting strength showed continucd and steady improvement in the positiou and a cor responding deeline in the position of the, Labour Party. The National Party could tralee pride in having kept . the campaign on a hig-li plane. It would now re.suTrie with determination its work of OTga*nisation and preparaiion in readiness for the next trial of strength whieli, in view of the positions of tlve parties, might conceivalily conie eralier tlian was anticipated. Mr, Sini paid tribute to services rendered by Mr. S. G. Holland, whose leadersMjp and prestige stood highor than ever as .aYesult of his conduct of the campaign. The following resolu tion wa's carriedr "That this meeting of the Dominion executive of the New Zealand National Pprty expresses its great appreciation of the conduet of the recent eleetion campaign by the leader of the party (Mr. S. G. Holland) aird pledges its full -and unswerving loyalty to him as leader of the party."
