Three Meetings Conclude Tomorrow

L.M

.M.)

(SPECIAL— FROM

w WELLINGTON, This Day. With the exception of the two opening events excellent fields are again cartled for the concluding day tomorrow of the C.J.C. Cup fixture, at Riccarton. Chief interest will again centre. in the meeting between Soneri and Golden Souvenir in the Canterbury Cup. It is expected that Golden Souvenir will thoroughly test Soneri at the longer journey and southerners are confident that he will beat the champioh mare. Judged on the easy manner in which she beat him last week I am confident Soneri will prove Golden Souvenir's superior evem at 1?. miles. It is expected that after tomorrow's race Soneri will enjoy a welldeserved let up.

Piccolo and Hormuz are both in strong demand for the Fendalton Handicap as also is Joygiver to a dightly lesser extent. The first namcd pair ran excellent races in che Metropolitan Handicap last week, while Joygiver was always prominent over the first H- miles of the N.Z. Cup, the two miles being just beyond him. He was rested last week and will be fresh tomorrow. At the distance Joygiver must hold particularly bright prospects of success. The seven furlongs of the Members' Handicap will suit Master Dash, Lexia, Privilegc and Red Pickle. Missing hc jump-out last week Rcd Pickle cxperienccd a "rocky" passage in ..hc early stagcs and gavc an cxcelicnt pcrformancc- of his galloping ability to get up in timo to snatch l.hird money. If he gets out smartly ■omorrow hc should be one of the hardost to beat. Bol.li the Woodville and Avondale .Jockoy Clubs will also conclude Ihrir spring fixtures tomorrow. Both meetings have drawn attractive flelds and last wcck's form should, unless weather conditions iuteri'ere, be a good guide. Betting is win and place.
