PATIENTS WELFARE FIRST
Received Friday, 9.50 a.m. LONDON, Dec. 5. Replying to questions in tlie House of Commons about the Willesden nurses, the Minister oi | Health, Mr. Aneurin Bevan, said he was circularising local authorities :hat the maintenance and smooth vunning of health service and patients' welfare was essential. H° was anxious to see the doctors and nurses join the union, but the matter should not be determined by unilateral action by the local authorities. A cable on December 1 stated that two doctors and fiftv nurses empl ayed by the "Willesden municipal _ and maternity hospitals received notices terminating their engagements on December 3 eecause thev were not members of i the trade union.
