A warning that ihe present high price.s being ]>ai"d for Australian wool would not be niaiiitained, was given tnday by the secretary of the Grazicrs' Federal Couneil, m r. .t. w. Allen, before tlie full Arbitratiou Court during the hearing of tlie basie wage case. Mr. Allen said priniary indust ry costs, ineluding wages, sliould be controlled in aeeordanee with ti kmg term average of oversea |iriees and not raised merely beeause there seemed soiue prospect of higli oversea prices for a little while. Mr. Allen said the reeord higli prices which ranged to 9ld per Ib. were for superline wool l'oproseuling only- (i or 7 per eent of tlie erop. h'eeord priees were paid for onlv small lots. Tlie nvernge pviee of wool up to Meptomber had uot been higlier than 21 d per lb.
