Mr. aird Mrs. B. M. Armstrong left today to 'take up residence in Taupo after having spent over 20 ; years in Levin. Mr. Armstrong, who has been the supervisor at the (Levin Post Office, has been appoirited postmaster at Taupo. The Minister of Defence, Mr. Jones, announced today "that 1 Squadron Leader D. F. "St. George, D.F.C., is taking over the command of No. 14 Squadron in Japan, rej placing Squadron Leader De Willimoff , Who is now due for repa'triation. Squadron Leader St. George entered. the R.N.Z.A.F. on the outbreak of hostilities. He served as an instructor and then went on a fighter tour of the Padific With No. 17 Squadron, which he later commanded for two more tours. He then attended a fighter leaders' course in the Uiiited Klngdom and on his .return was -appointed Director of Operations.
