LOCAL AND GENERAL

Pcrson^il Miss Rona Haley, of Auckland, is at present on holiday in Shannon and is the guest of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. Haley, Graham Street. Mr. I. Seaton has returned home from Tauranga, wh'ere he has been spending his annual lioliclays. Mr. Seaton has resumed his duties at Messrs. W. H. Gunning and Company's store again. The friends of Mr. Leo Carter, of Moutoa, will be pleased to hear that he was able to return home from the Palmerston North Hospital for the weekend, and that he hopes to be able to leave the institution in ohe very near future.

Doctor's Residence Offered Through the generosity of a local resident who is leaving the town, a fiqe residence has been offered to the public of Shannon for a doctor's residence. In making the statement yesterday, Mr. G. W. Cundy, who is acting as agent for the property holder, said that the time had come for local organisations to get together and support the effort as soon as possible, otherwise the property would be sold privately. A lew months ago.. two doctors were interested in starting in practice in Shannon, but as there was no resij dence avaiiable at that time both i men had to make other plans. j Shannon offers ideal conditions-for j a resident doctor, and now that a | house is avaiiable there should not I be any diffieulty in inducing a docjtor to practice in the town.
