Though Eire's appiication to join United Xtttions was not accepted, there is evidenee that slie is proceoding with defenee plans to iit in with the general seheme of global security wliicli United Xtttions pledged to elfect. Eire is inereasing her army, equipping her Air Uorce with the liest maehiiies. and the navy is lieing augniented by the addition of six British corvettes. The Navy is being reorgtinised under the direction of ti retired British naval oflicer.
