WELLINGTON, Dec. 4. The conclusion oi an air transport agreement, between New Zealand and the United States, providing for the operation of air services by New Zealand and the United States between Auckland ancl San Francisco, was aiuiuunced today by the Minister in Charge of Civil Aviaiion, Mr. Jones. The agreement was signed in Washington by Sir Carl Berendsen on beliaif oi' New Zealand. The agreement gives New Zealand an air service right to pick up and set down traffic at Honolulu and San Francisco in United States territory. On the route from Auckland to San Francisco, the service will call at Fiji and at Canton Island, and it is proposed, subject to the conclusion of an agreement with Canada, which is at present being negotiated, that it sliall continue through San Francisco to Vancouver, which will be the North American terminal. Under the terms of the agreement New Zealand will designate an airline, which will operate .x j service on its behalf, and it is pro- ; posed to nominate the British { Commonwealth and Pacific Air- 1 hnes Corporation, controlled by thel Governments of Australia, Britain and New Zealand. for the purpose. At present the service on behalf of this corporation is being operated by Australian National Airways between Sydney and Vancouver.
