Weather Aifects Entries Bad weather for the greater part of the mouth aucl niauy previous days of lieavy rain aud high winds adversely afL'eeted the entries in the Women 's Institute third annual rose show whieh| was held in the Hruids' Hali on Saturday. In deelariug tho show open, Mrs. M. C. Pene, a foundation member of the Koputaroa W.I. and a member of I the Northem Federation executive, who was introdueed to quite a good gathering of the public by the show secretary, Mrs. D. Fitzgorald, said it was iudeed a very marvelious show considering the uuseasonable weather, and they couid have got nothing nicer thau the roses. fcihe was of the opiuiou that the busy institute meuibers were just as good at growing vegetables and flowers as the people with niore leisure. Llie felt it a very high honour at beiug asked to opeu the show aud had mueh pleasure iu doiug so. Of the teu sectious the rose was the best with some very nice bloorns, but the lack of foliage with many eutries spoiled the atagiug appearance. By far the largest section was the cut blooms which were, on the whole, quite good and well displayed. Most disappointing was the decorative section, there beiug eomparatively few entries. (dome very good needlework was entered and exeeilent soft toys. The stewards were: Boses, Mrs. C. Veale; sweet peas, Mrs. J. Sinclair; cut blooms, Mi'3. J. T. Bovis; decorative, Mesdames H. Stern and W. Easton; vegetables, Mesdames L. A. Stratford aud B. Koberts; cookery, Mesdames E. Thorne and K. Thomson; needlework, Miss N. Easton; school work, Mrs. C. Stern. Ice" creams were soid by Mr. W. Stern, Mrs. J. Sinclair was in eharge of the saies table, and the tearoom was run by Mesdames A. E. Bnrling, E. Oliester, J. P. "Allerby and JK. Lang. Mrs. Stratford was doorkeeper, Mrs. 1). Eitzgerald secretary, and Mrs. J. Creagh treasurer. The prize donated by the ft.S.A. for the most points in the show was won by Mrs. O. Cheesman (Levin), and Mrs. Sinclair 's prize for the champion bloom, a lovely rose, weut to Mrs. K. Mitcheli. Section points prizes were won as follows: — Itoges, Mrs. K. Mitcheli; sweet peas, Mr. VV. Steru; cut blooms, Mr. W.
