ATHLETICS AND CYCLING

SPORTS ON WEDNESDAY A meeting of the committe'e of the Otaki A.A. and C. Club was held last night, the president, Mr. Fred Edwards, occupying the chair. There was a splendid attendance and considerable int'erest was displayed in the proceedings. It was agreed that the ground be put in order for the sports to be held on Wednesday evening, and a working bee for Tuesday (tonight) was arranged. 0 It was stated that representatives from the club had met members of the Otaki Borough Council on the domain and had arranged satisfactorily as to where the fe'.we should be re-erected. A letter was read from thi council, stating 11 s willingness to allow the use of the ground at a price agreed upon. It was stated that there had been no letter from the centre" relative to the holding of sports on Anniversary Day. It was agreed that the sports could be held and that •the centre would ' raise no objeetion, but on the other hand give support. The club's delegate to the centre stated his willingness to act and do all possible for the benefit of the club. It was agreed that arrangemeii's be made to hold a dance in' the Te Horo Hall on the night of the Anniversary Day sports, and to secure the services of a first class orchestra. A free bus will run from Otaki. It was resolved that a shieii 00 given for relay races, while both Mr. Tauc.hcr and Mr. Connor offered trophics for cvents, the former a cup for junior boys and the latter a trophy for an event to be known as thc Wei Gordon Memorial Race. It was agreed to wiite to holders of cups won on the last occasion of sports and ask for their return in good time for the coming Anniversary Day sports. Mr. O. G. (Mick) Jones was appointcd as club captain.
