TAXI AND CAR IN COLLISION

A fortunate escape from seripus injury was experienced by Mr. W. W. Johnstone when the car he was driving collided with a taxi at the junction of Oxford and B,ath Streets at 10 a.m. yesterday moming. The taxi, which was driven by Mr. Merlwyn Lawrence Bennington, of Lower Hutt, was proceeding along Oxford Street in a northerly direction when it collided with Mr. Johnstone's vehicle, which was travelling westwards along Bath Street. Both vehicles were extensively damaged and had to be towed from the scene of the accident. Slightly injured, and badly shaiken, Mr. Johnstone was taken to his home, where he received medical attention. The driver of the other vehicle 1 escaped unscathed.
