vards 1 have cver seen". " There are no nicer liorses in Britain than 'in New Zealand," said Mr. Grogan, "but there are more of them.' I think New Zealand liorses are bctter grown. They mature more quickly than those in Britain where two-vear-olds are inclined to be small and lightboned. British traiuers have inany ditficulties to face including the strict rationing of oats. They cannot get bran while beans and linseed are absolutely unknown. In face of these obstacles I think the trainers here are doiug remarkably well and one can see whole fields of quality horses. Persoiiallv, I don 't think the horses in Ireland are so well bred as in Britain. They are bigger bonecl and more massive and get more feed but are not quite as good as in Britain. Neither do I think the French procluce the same quality horses as the British. They are harder tramed and very wiry and lathy but they- get a lol of bad eolours among them." Mr. Grogan is attending the nexi Newmarket saies beginning on Deeem ber 2 when he expeets to lmy more horses for Australia. eThe two he has bought already are Uevilyvood by Bois Roussel out of Everlastings, and Jndgment hv Fair Trinl.
