Margaret O'Brien will earn £800 a week under her new contract with xVL-G.-M. The contract, which had to be approved bythe court, stipuiates that Margaret must be billed as either star or co-star of her films. « Joan Crawfbfd, . who is already earning top money, has .arranged to pick up a little extra cash. She is co star in a weekly radio show. The Ray Millands are now in England to attend the Royal Comrnand film performance in London this month. They expect to stay ohere for at least a month. Marlene Dietrich has finished Paramount's "Golden Ear-rings," and is now in New York cohfemng about her next French picture with Paris producer Ducharme. Esther Williams (Mrs. Ben Gage), who expects to join the Hollywood mothers in February, hoped for a boy, and wished her fans would not send her so many pink baby clothes — traditionally pink is for a lass and blue a lad. Esther temporarily retired from films last week. Sarah Churchill, daughter of Winston Churchill ; and wife of comedian Vic Oliver, is playing the feminine lead in a dual language film being made in Rome. The film, "Daniclle Cortis," is based on a- period novel by Antonio Fogazzario. Sarah, who was selected from 27 other women for tlje role, has Italian stagc star Vittorio Cassman as her leading man. Sarah speaks no Italian, Cassman no English. When the film is finished. Sarah's lines will be dubbcd in Italian, Cassman 's in English — and you will have your two versions of "Danielle Cortis." Van Johnson, on location for "High Barbarec," became a victim of poison ivy, spent his time of revising his memoirs, "A Young Actor Looks Back."
