WINS FOR U.S. DAVIS CUP PLAYERS

Received Fridav, 11.40 p.m. MELBOURNE, Nov. 29. The American Davis Cup doubles pairs Talbert and Muiloy and Ivramer and Fcliroeder had straight set wins in ihe first round of the Vietorian doubles championship at Ivooyong today. The Americans showed impressive form although they were matched against relatively wenk opponents. Ivramer and Parker, who are likely to represent America in the Davis Cup singles, are not contesting the Vietorian singles championship. Tom Brown, who was seeded number one in the singles championship, witlidrew because of an attack of influenza. Brown is making a good recoverv and if he strikes the form which earried him into the final of the American singles championship he may play with Ivramer in the Davis Cup singles.
