The deceased, who was the daughter oi the late Mr. Paris Andersony a well known baker at Otaki Railway for some considerable time, was 67 years of uge Messrs. "Da'y" and Jasper Anderson are brothers of the deceased. Mr. and Mrs. Shannon, who have been residents of Otaki for the last jive years, during which time they havc made hosts of fricnds, leave on Tuesday to take up residence in Levin. Mrs. Shannon has been a useful membcr of the W.D.F.U. and All Saints' Ladies' Guild. Both Mr. and Mrs. Shannon will be missed from Otaki, but will havc che best wishes of their many friends.

Garden Party Arranved The Otaki Methodist Ladies' Guild is arranging to hold a garden party at the residence of Mrs. Synnott on Saturday, December 11, when there will be various stalls, competitions, etc. Full particulars will appear later. District Horse Club was held in "The Chronicle" office on Tuesday last, when it was decided .that the date for the annual sports meeting for 1947 be February 15, as this seemed the most satisiactory day available. and members aecidea that the annual general meeting; would need to be held earlier than last year. The date fixed for this meeting was December 4. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chairman. Message in Bottle A "cottle" paper thrown overboard by Master E. G. Hallstein and Officer F. McLean, of the vessel Harold A. Jordan in latitude 40/35s, longitude 17,400 E, has been found on the Otaki Beach. The paper contains instructions to the finder. Inside the bottle was also a letter from S. J. Davis, manager of the Union Steamship Company, of Ncw Zealand, to thc master of the Harold A. Jordon. The lotters have been forwarded to the Hydrographic Office, Navy Departmcnt, Washington. D.C.
