DRIVE AGAINST COMMUNISTS
Received Wednesday, 8.30 p.m. NEW YORK, Nov. 26. The first open indication from the Government side that ' an attack on Yenan may be launched soon, was . given in an obviously inspired report from the the otficial Kuomintang Central News Agency, says the New York Tirnes' Nanking correspondent. The report quotes a military observer as hinting that a punitive drive will be ordered against the Communist capitai if the Communist • Party should decide to convene as the People 's Asseiribly for the Commnnist areas and if Communist troops should continue to attack Yulin in South Suiyuan Province. The Minister of- Information, Mr. Peng Hsueh Pei, refused to elaborate on the observer 's "Hint" but the Central News Agency report significantly was telephoned to all foreign correspondents and is widely interpreted . as the initial move to prepare the public and world 'for a possible.campaign against Communist headquarters. The Communists, for several weeks, have been calling attention to the building up of Government forces around the Shensi-Kansu-Ninghsia border region in which Yenan is centred. The Communists claim that 180,000 Nationalist troops are surrounding the border region.
