WELLINGTON, Nov. 27. Tn a statement this afternoon to Maori etectors for the return of Maori Members pf Parliament, Mr Tirikatene said lie desired espeeially to •thank the Maori Labour eommittees and other Labour eommittees and sup porters who assisted him personally in the 8outli Island, and all those who as sisterl other Maori Labour candidates in Ihe Xorth Island. Sucli an overwhelming vote of confidence by tlie Maori people in tlie present .'Government, augured well for the future of the Maori race and he could visuatise tlie prosperous and liappy future of the Maori people in working out their destiny in Xew Zealand. The iirni policy of equal economic life for tlie Maori people, was to be a real oue as would be the pursuance of a social staudard embodying the best of Maori and pakeha eul'ture. On belialf of the Maori people of Xew Zealand lie tlianked the Prime Minister and other members of Oabinet and Labour IHenibers of Parliament for their assis tance in the past. and he looked forward to th-eir cooperation in the future.
